This policy explains what personal data we process when you use the Turks’n’Turks website and mobile app, why we process it, who we share it with, and what rights you have.
In short: we do not sell your data, we do not share it for advertising, and you decide what appears on your profile.
Your email address and password are required. Your first name, last name and username are also part of your account. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name and account identifier from Google.
A profile photo or avatar, a bio, your website, your social media links, your phone number and your location. Your email address, phone number and location are hidden on your profile by default; they are shown only if you explicitly turn them on.
The listing title and description, photos, price, category-specific details and contact details (name, phone, and email if you wish), plus the listing’s location (country, city, optionally a street address and coordinates).
An important distinction: The contact details you publish in a listing are public for as long as the listing is live, and they are independent of your profile privacy settings. The phone number you hide on your profile and the one you put in a listing are two different things.
The messages you send, the scores and reviews you leave (and their edit history), your favorites, who you follow, the users you block, and any reports you submit.
We do not guess your location from your IP address. To show listings relevant to you, you choose your location yourself: either from the country list or by granting your browser’s location permission. Both are actions you start; if you do not grant permission, we do not take your location.
Cookies and local storage are covered in a separate document: Cookie Policy.
Your card details never reach our servers. Payments are handled by Stripe; on our side we keep only records such as your orders, subscription, amount, currency and date, plus the customer identifier Stripe gives us.
While you browse without an account, what we keep about you is this: a temporary identifier for your visit and (only if you chose one) the location you selected yourself (country, and a city if you want). We do not use your IP address to find your location, and we do not store it alongside your location record.
These records are kept for at most 30 days; older records are deleted automatically every night. The cookie that recognises your visit is deleted when you close your browser.
| Purpose | Which data |

| Publishing listings and making them searchable | Listing content, location, contact details |
| Showing you nearby results | The location preference you selected (country, optionally a city) |
| Letting users reach each other | Messages, profile information |
| Taking payment and issuing invoices | Order and subscription records |
| Sending you service emails | Email address, your preferences |
| Telling a listing owner how many times their listing was viewed | Which listing you opened and the day you opened it |
| Preventing abuse and reviewing reports | Report records, IP address, account details |
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with anyone for advertising. To run the service we rely on the following providers:
We may also share data with the authorities where we are legally required to (a court order or a lawful request).
The servers of the providers above may be outside the country you live in. Where that is the case your data is transferred internationally, subject to the safeguards required by the applicable law.
Wherever you live, we offer the same core rights: to access your data, correct it, ask for it to be deleted, object to processing, and receive a copy.
You can do most of this yourself: update your profile under Dashboard → Edit Profile, change your email preferences in settings, and delete your account yourself under Dashboard → Settings. For anything else, write to us.
Under the GDPR you also have the right to ask us to restrict processing and to receive your data in a portable format. You may also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.
Under Turkish data protection law (KVKK, Law no. 6698), the personal data listed above is processed for the purposes described in this policy. It is processed to the extent necessary to provide the service, through the providers listed above, and transferred abroad where necessary.
Under Article 11 of the KVKK you have the right to learn whether your personal data is processed, to request information about it, to learn the purpose of processing and whether it is used accordingly, to have incomplete or incorrect data corrected, to request erasure or destruction, to require that such actions be notified to third parties to whom the data was transferred, to object to results produced solely by automated analysis, and to claim compensation if you suffer damage from unlawful processing.
To exercise these rights, write to us.
Under the privacy laws of several states, including California, you have rights to access your data, request its deletion and opt out of its sale or sharing. Because we do not sell your data or share it for advertising, there is no such sale or sharing to opt out of.
Turks’n’Turks is not designed for people under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If we learn that we hold data belonging to someone under 18, we delete it.
If we update this policy we will change the date at the top of the page. If a change is significant we will also tell you by email or in the app.
For any privacy question or request, please write to us from our Contact page.
